The “Le Donne del Vino” Association: the value of women in winemaking
February 9, 2026A Vintage Marked by Balance in Lugana
The 2025 vintage at Ca’ Lojera can be described as a harvest defined by balance, both from a climatic and a production standpoint. After seasons marked by strong weather irregularities, the vine’s growing cycle unfolded under more harmonious conditions, guiding Turbiana grapes toward a gradual and even ripening. At harvest, the grapes showed a well-balanced relationship between sugars, acidity, and aromatic components—key elements for the style of Lugana wines.
The growing season began with a mild spring, which encouraged an even and trouble-free vegetative restart. The early stages of vine development progressed smoothly, laying the foundations for balanced cluster growth. Summer alternated warm days with cooler periods, avoiding prolonged heat extremes and helping preserve the freshness of the grapes. This climatic pattern limited the risk of over-ripening and maintained the natural acidity characteristic of Turbiana.
In the final part of the season, the arrival of intense and intermittent rainfall made vineyard management more challenging. Constant monitoring of grape health was required, along with a continuous presence in the vineyard to ensure timely interventions. From a quantitative perspective, the 2025 Lugana harvest remained broadly in line with the denomination’s average yields, allowing work with healthy, well-balanced grapes.
The harvest phase proved to be the most demanding of the year. Rainfall fragmented the picking period, making it necessary to divide the harvest into several passes and to take precise advantage of favorable weather windows. Careful bunch selection was essential to preserve quality, requiring experience, attention, and meticulous work both in the vineyard and in the cellar.
Despite the operational challenges, the results have been very positive. The 2025 wines from Ca’ Lojera stand out for their marked freshness, supported by a balanced and well-defined structure. The natural acidity gives energy and drinkability, making the wines enjoyable from an early stage while also allowing them to evolve gracefully over time.
From an aromatic standpoint, the vintage expresses wines of great finesse and immediacy. On the nose, notes of citrus fruits, white flowers, and yellow-fleshed fruit emerge, accompanied by a delicate mineral nuance that recalls the soils of the Lugana area. On the palate, sapidity and overall harmony complete a profile that is coherent and true to the denomination’s style, confirming the value of a complex vintage that delivered high qualitative satisfaction.
